Designing diagnostic cells and therapeutic proteins

Abstract

We are approaching design of human cells to address real world applications ranging from sensing the environment to actionable outputs. For the first, we have developed a high throughput strategy to rapidly determine the effects of emerging pathogens on the host innate immune response and have applied this to SAR2 and other coronaviruses. Second, we design proteins to sustain cell and organoid life under extreme conditions as well as to act therapeutically on neglected diseases.
